A Brampton man will appear in court very soon after stealing from a farmers’ market vendor over the Thanksgiving weekend.
On Saturday, October 7 at around 12:40 p.m., a man stole cash from a farmers’ market vendor.
“A 66-year-old man intervened in the course of the theft, he wasn’t injured, but he was assaulted,” says Const. Lori Murphy. The man was trying to stop the theft.
Police and City of Brampton security were a short distance away, and arrested the accused near Queen and George. The stolen cash was recovered.

Duarte Pavao, 37, of Brampton, has since been placed in undertaking. Pavao has been charged with assault and theft under $5,000.
Pavao will attend court on November 8, 2017, say police.
This isn’t the only farmers’ market theft of this year. There were two other occurrences in September at the Downtown Brampton Farmers’ Market, which are still under investigation.
