Brampton man charged after $2.7 mil in drugs seized at Ambassador Bridge

Today (October 7), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Southern Ontario Region, in conjunction with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Windsor Detachment, announced the seizure of approximately 21 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and the corresponding arrest of a Brampton resident.

The estimated value of the suspected methamphetamine by the CBSA is approximately $2.7 million. 

According to CBSA, On September 22, 2020, a commercial truck entered Canada through the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, Ontario and was referred for a secondary examination.  

During the examination, border services officers discovered a duffel bag filled with packages of suspected methamphetamine, according to CBSA.

The CBSA arrested the driver and seized the suspected narcotics. The RCMP attended and took custody of the subject as well as the evidence. The investigation is ongoing. 

Jaspreet Singh, a 29-year old from Brampton, Ontario has been charged with importation of scheduled I substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and possession for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Singh is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice.
