The Super Bowl won’t feature the only great game plan being carried out on TV tonight for Brampton viewers.

The series première of Holmes Family Effect will air on CTV following Sunday’s big championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Buccaneers and the first episode will see Brampton’s Judith Nyman Secondary School receive a much-needed facelift from the popular Canadian home renovations family.

The opening episode, “A trade of a Lifetime,” will see personal contractor and popular TV personality Mike Holmes, along with son Mike and daughter Sherry, transform three rundown classes at the Brampton school.

“We can’t wait to introduce this uplifting new series from the Holmes family to CTV viewers,” said Karine Moses, Senior Vice President, Content Development and News, for Bell Media.

“This series is making a difference for organizations in Canada, and with worldwide distribution for Holmes Family Effect handled by Bell Media, we look forward to bringing the series to U.S. audiences on FOX, as well as viewers around the world.”

The school project is close to the hearts of the Holmes family after 18-year-old Judith Nyman student Riley asks for their help to save her school’s skilled trades program. They also get some assistance from special guest and school alumnus Russell Peters.

The kids get the chance to learn from the pros and also give back to home renovation teacher Frank Meleca. The renovation not only impacts the current students, but in the future will improve learning for future classes of trades professionals.

Set to help local heroes continue to make a difference in their community, the Holmes family will surprise deserving individuals and help tackle everything from a neglected school building to a rundown youth centre.

The CTV renovation series will move to its regular Sunday timeslot at 8 p.m. beginning on February 14 and begins streaming Friday, March 12 on Crave.
