At a June 17 conference, Mayor Patrick Brown discussed additional measures to help cope with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and announced that the Brampton farmers’ market has received the go-ahead from Public Health to open.
Today’s conference featured Mayor Patrick Brown, City Councillor Jeff Bowman and Dr. Lawrence Loh, Interim Medical Officer of Health, Region of Peel.
“Not only have we had record testing, but we’ve had the go-ahead from public health to open the Brampton farmers’ market,” announced Brown, adding that he has always thought that Brampton’s farmers’ market is the best in the province.
According to Brown, the market will be opening in a safe manner as of June 27.
It will run for a total of 18 weeks until Saturday, October 24, 2020, and the market hours will be from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

“We’re taking a few initiatives to help make this possible. First of all, vendors and customers will be required to wear a mask while at the market,” said Brown.
“Hand sanitization stations will be available throughout the market that the City is going to set up.”
Brown added that much like grocery store operations, only a certain number of people will be admitted to the market area at a time.
Additionally, there will be one entrance and one exit so that the number of people at the farmers’ market can be controlled.
“It’s going to be a great opportunity to support local businesses and to support local produce and it really is an iconic signature Brampton event in the summer,” concluded Brown.
Only one member per household is recommended to attend at a time in order to limit the number of people in the market.
