Brampton councillor says COVID-related calls to bylaw enforcement have ‘significantly reduced’

At an August 12 conference, Mayor Patrick Brown discussed additional measures to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in Brampton.
Today’s (August 12) conference featured Mayor Patrick Brown, Regional Councillor Michael Palleschi and Dr. Lawrence Loh, Interim Medical Officer of Health, Peel Region.
During Councillor Palleschi’s announcement, he acknowledged the collective hard work that Brampton residents have put in during the pandemic in an effort to keep everyone safe.
“We must remember now more than ever that it is important to keep up with these efforts; stay apart, lather up, mask up and get tested,” said Palleschi.

“The city’s emergency bylaw remains in effect today, but over the past week, there were only battery charges under the face-covering bylaw.”
According to Palleschi, this past week there were a total of 41 complaints and to date, there have been around 280 complaints under the bylaw.
“We have received 27 residential social gathering complaints this past week with no charges laid,” said Palleschi.
“With the city of Brampton transitioning into Stage 3, COVID-related calls to bylaw enforcement have significantly reduced.”
Palleschi concluded by acknowledging that Brampton is continuing to do their part which has given enforcement officers the opportunity to resume normal enforcement duties.
