Brampton cemetery to reopen with limited hours of operation

The City of Brampton will reopen the Brampton Cemetery, located at 10 Wilson Avenue, with controlled, limited access to ensure the safety of all visitors and staff, effective Saturday, May 9,
The City of Brampton will reopen the Brampton Cemetery, located at 10 Wilson Avenue, with controlled, limited access to ensure the safety of all visitors and staff, effective Saturday, May 9, 2020.
Access to the cemetery will be limited to the gate on Church Street (closest to Beech Street) and the City’s 25 pioneer cemeteries remain closed until further notice.
A maximum of 10 people will be allowed to enter the Brampton Cemetery at one time with no more than five people per plot, in accordance with the directives set out by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and each visitation will be limited to 15 minutes.
There may be further restrictions if there are families attending plots adjacent to one another. As a result, residents may experience longer wait times.
In compliance with physical distancing regulations, visitors must continue to remain two metres (six feet) away from others (who do not live in the same house) at all times.

Those who are not practicing physical distancing will be asked to leave.
Brampton Cemetery hours of operation:
Saturday, May 9: 5 pm to 8 pm
Sunday, May 10: CLOSED
Beginning Monday, May 11: Monday to Friday, 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday, from 3 pm to 7:30 pm
Signage will be posted outside the Brampton Cemetery to advise of the revised hours of operation.
Essential services, such as burials and burial plot sales, continue to be provided by appointment only.
“We understand the significance of families being able to pay respects to their late mothers and grandmothers this Mother’s Day, and closing the cemetery is a difficult decision the City had to make,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.
“To provide these important services in the safest way possible, the City is reopening the Brampton Cemetery with limited access and hours of operation this Saturday, but will close Sunday as a high volume of visitors is expected. We want to continue to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff by maintaining physical distancing measures, but also support those who wish to access these services at this time.”
