With 12 major and four minor cricket fields in the city and the former host of the Global T20 Cricket Tournament, many agree that cricket is a huge sport in Brampton.

Recently, Teramoto Park, a Brampton park known for its cricket field, just passed a major milestone.

The park just became the first LED-lit full-size cricket field in Canada.

Located on Chinguacousy Road, Teramoto Park’s cricket field now has nighttime LED lighting that covers the entire field. It also has upgraded spectator seating for all the cricket lovers in the city. The park will soon feature a digital scoreboard, which is to be installed to enhance the unique cricket site. With all the upgrades, the city can now host more competitive cricket tournaments in Brampton.

These additions come after many rallies that were held during the 2018 election for better infrastructure to allow for the sport to grow. One of the major concerns was the lack of lighting, which restricted practices and tournaments to be held only during the day.

The city has also built a new full-size cricket field at the 407/Dixie Park to provide players with an enhanced experience. They are also building a full-size cricket field at Gore Meadows Community Centre, which is almost complete. The site will boast two more cricket fields with turf wickets including one with stadium-style seating and a clubhouse with lighting.

What do you think about this new addition to Teramoto Park?
