Brampton hoop fans can read first-hand about AJ Lawson’s journey to the 2021 NBA Draft.

The 20-year-old Brampton native, who hired an agent and declared his eligibility for this year, wrote his first blog for NBA.com on his experiences leading up to the big day set for July 29.

The South Carolina junior guard’s first blog, which appeared Tuesday on NBA.com, gives readers insight to his humble beginnings and his rise on the Canadian basketball scene.

The NBA draft prospect also writes about his dreams of one day playing in the league and all the work he has put into making those dreams come true.

“I’m blessed and proud to say that I’m a diary holder for NBA.com,” Lawson said in a video post Tuesday on Twitter.

“It’s just the dreams I’ve been through, what I accomplished and how hard I’ve worked.

“I just want to let you all know that if I can do it, you all can do it too, man. Believe in yourself, work hard and just achieve your goals. Put your mind to it and believe that you can.”

The six-foot-six, 178-pound star at South Carolina, who attended St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Elementary School, finished top-five in the SEC in points per game.

His strong NCAA Division 1 season with the Gamecocks earned him SEC Team ALL-SEC honours.

His blog can be read on nba.com. You can also follow his journey on his Twitter feed @ItsAJLawson or on Instragram: AJLawson.
