Employees at Amazon warehouses in Brampton and Caledon will be able to receive vaccinations today as part of a joint workplace program.

The three plants involved have had outbreaks of COVID-19 in the past year and each are currently in partial closure to stop the spread of the virus.

The program is operated by Peel Public Health in conjunction with the Province of Ontario and selected businesses in an effort to bring the vaccine to essential workers.

While these pop-clinics will only serve those who work at Amazon, the program calls for the businesses to eventually open mobile units for neighbouring communities. Just over 7,000 doses of the vaccine will be available for the program.

The initiative was launched last week in Brampton at Maple Lodge Farms and then Maple Leaf Foods a few days later.

Other businesses are expected to become part of the program as more vaccine supplies become available.
