The holiday season is officially upon us, and while many people are focused on shopping and party-planning, everyone should be just as excited about taking in the joy of the season by doing something special with loved ones.

And fortunately for Brampton residents, romantic–and fun–horse and carriage rides will be available in the city’s beautiful (and festive) downtown core this holiday season.

For those who are unaware, carriage rides have been a long standing Brampton tradition in the downtown core for several years. Last year, the Downtown Brampton BIA decided kick things up a notch by launching free wagon rides for kids and families with special guests.

Naturally, they were a huge hit.

“Carriage rides are always extremely popular,” says Andrea Magana, Marketing and Events Specialist, Downtown Brampton BIA.

“They’re the perfect addition to an evening out for dinner, skating, or shopping. Carriage rides have become a family tradition for many Brampton families!”

The rides (which can be cancelled in the event of inclement weather) started on Nov, 18 and will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Dec. 23. But if you miss out, fear not–more rides will take place from Dec. 26 to 30.

As for what times rides are available, residents can hop on a carriage from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. on Fridays, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays.

As far as prices go, wagon rides are free and carriages (which are perfect for groups of four to five people) cost just $20 per ride.

So, which ride is perfect for you?

“Carriages are paid and provide an intimate and cozy experience with loved ones,” says Magana. “Wagon rides are a free interactive family-friendly experience.”

Not only are wagon rides perfect for families, each wagon features a special guest. Some of those guests include Santa and Mrs. Claus (Dec 9) and Elsa and Anna (Dec 16).  You can also warm up with free hot chocolate on Sunday December 16, 2018 in front of Ken Whillans Square from 12 – 4 p.m. compliments of Astra Medi Spa.

The special guests will make this year’s rides especially unique.

“Not only do you get to enjoy a magical wagon ride around the downtown, but you get to meet princesses and Santa and Mrs. Claus–and you can even get a photo with them,” says Magana.

The rides are suitable for people of all ages, but kids must be supervised by an adult.

“Sparkle this holiday season with a memorable carriage or wagon ride in downtown Brampton with family and friends. Be sure to drop by our many retailers and specialty food destinations to help you with your holiday plans this year.”  Says Suzy Godefroy, Executive Director, Downtown Brampton BIA.
