60-year-old Brampton man succumbs to COVID-19

Peel Public Health (PPH) has announced a Brampton man has died due to the coronavirus.

The 60-year-old man was treated at Brampton Civic Hospital and passed away on April 2 due to complications associated with COVID-19.
Currently, PPH believes the man contracted the virus from someone with whom he lived.
“In the midst of this ongoing pandemic, our thoughts go out to this resident’s family and friends at a time when words can do little to console the pain of losing a loved one,” Lawrence Loh, Interim Medical Officer of Health for Peel Public Health, said in a news release.

“This tragic passing in our community reminds all of us that we must take decisive action to stay home as much as possible,” Loh said.
“By doing so, we will reduce the risk of transmission to those in our community that are vulnerable and slow the spread of COVID-19 to save lives,” he added.
In order to help prevent the spread of the virus, PPH is urging residents to stay home if they feel sick or have travelled abroad in the last 14 days.
Additionally, PPH is urging everyone to avoid leaving their homes as much as possible except for necessary excursions, such as groceries; medications; healthcare; or exercise alone, with a pet, or with someone with whom they live.
