5 Big New Restaurant Openings of the Summer in Brampton

Published August 30, 2018 at 6:36 pm

Believe it or not, summer is officially coming to a close (it always goes by so fast and ends much too soon).

While we still have a little less than a month left officially, the kids and college/university students are about to return to their classrooms and we’re all getting ready to buy pumpkin spice lattes (we know you love them, don’t even lie). To celebrate yet another summer, we thought we’d look at some of the hottest new restaurant openings to grace Brampton.

Here’s a look at some of the bigger new resto openings of summer 2018.

5) Fan “D” Flame

If you love Filipino cuisine, you’ll be excited to know that Brampton recently got a new Filipino restaurant! It might have officially opened near the end of April, but it was just in time for the summer food scene in Brampton. It’s called Fan “D” Flame, and it’s serving up some delicious food from its spot in the plaza at Main and Bovaird, in the same area at Rona and the passport office. What can you expect to eat at Fan “D” Flame? A ton of classic Filipino dishes, with some Chinese and Western fusion, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. From fried rice and noodles, to chicken wings and spring rolls, to halo-halo and lechon, you’ll find it all at Fan “D” Flame. According to the owners, this new restaurant offers dine-in, takeout and even catering. Restaurant owners highlight that Fan “D” Flame roasts their pic in house, with an oven that can fit eight pigs for roasting. It’s called Cebu’s lechon, and if you eat pork, this is definitely something you’ll want to try. And, this place serves bubble tea…and there’s a buffet.

4) Green Bites Dumplings & Tea Bar

If you love dumplings, tea, chicken wings, and Asian-inspired dishes, a brand new dumplings and tea restaurant just opened in Brampton this summer and you’ll want to check it out ASAP! Green Bites Dumpling & Tea Bar has officially opened its doors at 35 Resolution Drive, in the same plaza as Walmart at Rutherford and Steeles. Green Bites is serving up homemade everything, but its focus is – of course – on dumplings and tea. Here, you’ll find fresh dumplings in a ton of varieties with unique wrappers, meat and vegetarian options included. Tea is also a highlight on the menu. Green Bites features organic loose leaf tea such as dragon well, spring green, high mountain oolong, wuyishan black, iron Buddha and yunnan pu-er. According to the restaurant’s owners, California meets Toronto at Green Bites. The chicken wing recipe comes from the owners’ relatives in California, and it’s been around for 18 years. What else can you expect on the menu? Grilled chicken with black bean sauce, sesame sauce salad, orange chicken, tempura, seafood, noodles, rice, and more!

3) Little London Cafe

This new little cafe packs a big punch with its theme, service, and menu items. It might not be a huge resto – and technically a “cafe” – but it definitely will feed you well with its little treats, and there’s ample space to enjoy them. Little London opened up around the end of July 2018 in a plaza on Polonia Ave., near Mavis and Steeles. Little London Cafe boasts homemade everything, including parfaits, soups, salads, paninis, and even specialty coffees. You can expect several English-themed treats here. That includes English sausage rolls, beef pies, strawberry and cream scones, and more. Here, you’ll also find such treats as croissants, omelettes, and avocado toast. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner options are all available. The unique little cafe also has a small outdoor patio with a few tables and chairs, so you can enjoy your brew and your food outdoors. It’s open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Overall, if you love cafes and want to try something new, you might want to check this place out.

2) Honest Restaurant

Honest Restaurant has locations across India and the U.S., and even a location in Thailand. Now, the popular all-vegetarian, street food-inspired resto from Ahmedabad is officially open right here in Brampton. It has taken over the old Louisiana Seafood and Steakhouse location at Hurontario and Steeles. The restaurant’s expansive menu includes starters, pizzas, burgers, and Indian classics like pulav (a spicy and mixed rice), biryani, and dosa. Some Chinese options are also on the menu, including manchurian veggies, American chopsuey, fried rice, and a few different kinds of noodles. Another highlight is the milkshakes! Honest’s menu includes 11 different kinds of milkshakes. Chocolate chip, lychee, cold coffee, and even pineapple are just some of the milkshakes you’ll find here. And there’s a huge selection of paneer (a kind of cheese). So, if you’re looking for some classic Indian eats, Honest is a new spot to try them. Honest is typically open in the evenings from 5 p.m. onwards, according to their Facebook page.
